Biography

I am a New York State licensed Clinical Social Worker with special interest in holistic, mindfulness-based psychotherapy to foster healing, self-discovery, and transformation. I am a New York University graduate and have over 10 years' experience working with children, adults, families, and couples. I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I strongly believe in creating a therapeutic environment that is nonjudgmental, open, and validating where clients feel safe to express themselves, be heard and respected, and empowered to create a life worth living. I have extensive experience working with clients who have experienced trauma and personality disorders. I am an expert in forensics and can provide court ordered treatment and assessments, including substance use, fire setting, domestic violence, and mental health. I provide short-term behavior modification programs and consultation for children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 21 as well as play therapy for children between the ages of 3-12. I specialize in evaluations including mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and parental rights and custody. Christian counseling services and therapy provided. GROUPS: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an effective treatment for people who struggle to manage their emotions, stress, relationships and impulsive behaviors. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral-therapy and mindfulness practice. It is based on a bio-social theory which believes problems develop from the interaction of biological/physiological makeup and environmental factors, which together, create difficulty managing emotions. DBT therapists take a compassionate view, accepting you for who you are while helping you change and work toward your goals. Mindfulness Meditation Group- Being mindful is switching from 'doing' to 'being' Simply put, It is the act of focusing your mind in the present moment, without judgment and without attachment to that moment. It helps us become aware of what is going on within us and around us, as we become more present in the "right now". A Regular Mindfulness Meditation practice helps to increase our ability to regulate emotions, and self control, decrease stress, anxiety, and depression. It also helps us to focus our attention, enhance our mental health, and functioning. Please join us for an exploration into Mindfulness Meditation.
