Hudson Valley Guild Social Justice Statement

"The Hudson Valley Guild of Mental Health Professionals deplores the inhumane treatment and killing of Mr. George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis on 5/26/20. We refuse to accept this long standing pattern of abuse toward men and women of color by errant police officers across this nation. We condemn the misuse of power in any form. We strive to honor all individuals. We work to overturn inequalities in communities of color, as well as disadvantaged and oppressed communities in our country. We stand with the family and friends of Mr. Floyd and others who have been killed in police custody. We stalwartly defend the right of free speech and productive protest. Our social justice committee stands ready to address these issues and to help create meaningful change in our society."
