About My Practice
My practice has 2 distinct areas of concentration:
Muse In Action: Coaching for Creative Professionals is aimed at "helping right-brained thinkers create their rightful place in a left brained world" I draw on my expertise as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and my Coaching training with Mentorcoach to partner with clients to pursue their true passion by developing a realistic attainable plan of action, providing support & step by step strategies until the goal is reached. I can also provide virtual groups via teleconference to coach clients with similar goals. My work is positive and success oriented.Dante Clinical Consultation & Psychotherapy Services
I am available for consultation and for short term solution based psychotherapy. My approach to treatment is holistic and client centered and focused on client strengths with an emphasis on mind body techniques. As a Qualified Clinical Social Worker I have worked with a wide variety of clients both in-patient & outpatient (with individuals, groups & families) I also have many years of work in educational settings as I am a Nationally Certified School Social Work Specialist. My training incorporates dance/movement therapy, hypnotherapy and chi therapy which is particularly helpful for clients in trauma recovery or struggling with body image issues.About Me
Early in life I was drawn to the arts, had a strong interest in the field of healing and in community service. In college, I started off as a Psychology major, but, ultimately , I achieved my B.S. degree in 1984 from New York University completing my studies in Dance Education and Dance/Movement therapy.
After performing in an educational theater/dance company, I went on to work with developmentally disabled adults as a Recreation therapist and worked also as a volunteer at Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla NY in the social work and music therapy departments. In 1989, I completed a 3 year Dual Degree program at Hunter College, receiving a MS in Dance/Movement Therapy & an MSW (Masters of Social Work). Since that time, I have gained a great deal of clinical experience through continuing education and by working in the field in a variety of settings including a private practice in NYC and on Long Island.
My training in Dance/movement therapy and energy work has proven a great asset in my work with survivors of incest and rape, with battered women, and other victims of crime who needed to reclaim their bodies numbed through trauma. I feel I have many tools at my disposal to tailor a therapeutic approach around client needs. I work very differently with each person or group- no one method fits all.
Over the years, my approach which is insight oriented has become increasingly solution focused with an emphasis on concrete measurable change. I believe that insight is needed to produce motivation for change. My training as a coach helps me co-create realistic strategies for change that work. I enjoy being a change agent as a coach, as a clinician, and as a consultant. I derive joy from helping people move forward in their lives in ways that heal them and move them towards peace and personal contentment.
