About My Practice
I specialize in working with individuals, couples and family members, alone or together, who are experiencing a wide range of life's challenges, including sadness, dissapointment, worry, fear, frustration, and relational difficulties with partners, family members, or co-workers. I am an experienced therapist who works interactivley with my clients toward a goal of more real joy in life and more caring and understanding in relationships. I use my training in psychodynamic and family systems principles to encourage growth and transformation. I am versed in the use of clinical hypnosis as an adjunct to treatment. I usually see couples together but can schedule individual sessions when indicated. Sessions run for 55 to 60 minutes. I can arrange a convenient schedule and fees that are affordable. It is best to have a resource outside of insurance to support the work of growth and transformation which is beyond medical nedessity. Please contact me, without charge, for a discussion of your situation and an estimate of the cost to you. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about my practice. I will provide necessary paper work for insurance reimbursement should it apply. I practice both in Kingston and in New York City in the Gramercy Park area.About Me
I have been in the practice of Marriage and Family Psychotherapy for over 20 years, and have been a student of family systems for many years. I see most problems in living as arising from long standing emotional pressure from our family systems. Most of us take on a family role and find ourselves fulfilling family expectations in our choice of friends, schools, careers, and especially our life's patners. When we are aware of our family determined role, as contrasted with a deep sense of our true identity, we have the vital knowledge we need to make long lasting change. This perspective, along with an understanding of human emotions and how to deal with them, marks all my work whether it addresses emotional stress, parenting, stage of life changes, parental relationships with adult children, losses due to illness, death, divorce, or gender issues, and spiritual questions. I have conducted numerous couples workshops for enrichment, parenting workshops, and clergy support groups.
My credentials include:
Clinical Membership in the Americian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy
Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
New York State License in Marriage and Family Therapy
New York State License in Psychoanalysis
