About My Practice
I see children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple, group or play therapy. I am a trained a client-centered, play, cognitive-behavior, and group therapist. I also completed my training as a modern psychoanalyst. I trained in so many approaches because I believe it is important to find the right modality or combination of modalities for each person, there is no such thing as one method fits all. Together, you and I, will figure out what works best for you.
I have found that group therapy provides a tremendous asset to individual therapy, thus at this point I run a variety of groups: a children's group, a preadolescent group, an adolescent group, a young adult group, adult groups, a rape/sexual abuse victim support group, parent support group, and a supervision group. I truly love my work!
About Me
I am an internationally trained psychologist, licensed in New York and Germany, a certified group therapist, a NY certified school psychologist, a NAAP certified psychoanalyst, a German board certified psychodynamic psychologist both for adults, and children and adolescents.
In my 20 years of private practice in the Hudson Valley, I have treated hundreds of adults, children and adolescents and conducted innumerable psycho-educational evaluations and accompanied many parents to the various Child Study or Committee of Special Education meetings.
I worked in a residential treatment facility for adolescents and was the clinical director of an outpatient drug and alcohol clinic in Kingston. I have presented many papers and workshops to professionals and lay people, have been an adjunct professor teaching psychological disorders in childhood, and have been teaching in a psychoanalytic institute. I have a vast understanding of the needs of adults, children and adolescents, and of the various influences on learning and minute differentiations that are necessary to conduct thorough and complete psycho-educational evaluations.
I am the president of the Hudson Valley Psychological Association, was a board member of the Hudson Valley Guild of Mental Health Professionals for many years; a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis; a member of the Society of Modern Psychoanalysts; a member of the American Psychological Association; a member of the New York Psychological Association; and a member of the National Association of School Psychologists. I look forward to hearing from you.
