    About Me

Ilyse is a registered dietitian in private practice.  She works with people who have eating disorders, body image issues, food allergies, vegan and vegetarian diets, and insulin resistance. Often these categories overlap. The restriction of foods due to weight issues, allergies, or other reasons can sometimes lead towards eating disordered behaviors. Whether the newly diagnosed teen with celiac turns to binging, a teen becomes vegan in hopes of losing weight, or an adult bordering on diabetes looks to food during times of boredom, these issues can be addressed by a trained nutrition professional.  Working with a dietitian can address and support people during these times by providing clear nutritional information, behavior modification tools, accountability, monitoring, support, and encouragement.

Ilyse has a degree from Bastyr University of Natural Medicine which gives her work an alternative flavor, and her registered dietitian status from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. It is through continuing education opportunities that Ilyse expands her tool bag in innovative ways and can address what is in her clients best interest. With workshops and course work in the Maudsley family based treatment of anorexia, cognitive behavioral therapy approaches for dietitians in the field of eating disorders, nutrition counseling intensives, conflict resolution trainings, and the study of Virginia Satires Human Validation Process, Ilyse works to facilitate change and promote healthy attitudes towards food and body image.

Memberships include the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, the National Eating Disorders Association, the Mid Hudson Valley Dietetic Association, New York Dietetic Association, and the American Dietetic Association, Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group, Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionists Dietetic Practice Group, and the Hudson Valley Guild of Mental Health Professionals. Ilyse has been honored with the Virginia Dietetic Association’s Joan Dobek Memorial Scholarship in 2002, and the American Dietetic Association’s Mary C. Zahasky Continuing Education Award in 2006.

"Lifeshould not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, feather boa in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!"
